What does an electric Jaguar look like? From Jaguar's new concept Type 00

In every automotive era, Jaguar has been committed to creating classics, making the most innovative and luxurious products. Today, Jaguar is accelerating its exploration of electrification in an attempt to create a new era of classics.

On December 3rd, Jaguar unveiled its modernist new concept car, Type 00, at the brand's first show, 'Copy Nothing', at Miami Art Week.

Continuing in the spirit of Jaguar's Copy Nothing, Jaguar's new concept car, the Type 00, presents a new face that departs from the current electric car offerings with a long front end, sleek roofline, slinky silhouette, and 23-inch alloy wheels to create a dramatic silhouette. It's a product that quickly catches the eye at first glance, and Jaguar officials have high hopes for it.

Jaguar believes that just as the Jaguar E-Type revolutionized automotive design with its stunning debut at the 1961 Geneva Motor Show, the new Jaguar Concept Type 00 will spark a new trend in new energy vehicle design.

Adrian Mardell, Global Chief Executive Officer of Jaguar Land Rover, said: “I am fascinated by the power of Jaguar. As an original British luxury automotive brand, Jaguar's heritage, craftsmanship and emotional resonance with its customers is unrivaled. Now, we are revitalizing Jaguar to recreate the experience of the Jaguar E-type and other classic cars of the past. In the spirit of 'Very Style', Jaguar has embarked on a new brand journey to write a new chapter.”

It is understood that the Jaguar Type 00 will be the first concept model after Jaguar's “rebranding”, showing the design direction of its future models. If you want to know what Jaguar's future electric car will look like, take a look at the breakthrough design of Jaguar Type 00.

Bold and avant-garde, Type 00 ushers in a new era for Jaguar

On the Jaguar Type 00 Concept, we can see that Jaguar has made design breakthroughs in four areas. The first is the new logo design, which, compared to the old one, abandons the original hard style and adopts a modern, minimalist style that combines upper and lower case letters. The corners of the letters are mostly rounded, and the spacing between the letters is moderate, which ensures the overall compactness without looking crowded.

Next is the brand logo, with the new version of the Leopard mimicking the hood ornamentation of the old Jaguar, but with a more angular appearance against a backdrop of 16 horizontal stripes. Meanwhile, the Jaguar face, which has appeared on the grilles of Jaguar cars for the past two decades, has been replaced by a new round badge. In the round badge, the letters “j” and “r” are subtly arranged in an artfully understated elegance.

The Jaguar Type 00 Concept is clearly different from the electric cars on the market today. The Jaguar Type 00 Concept features a streamlined hood, wide roofline, 23-inch alloy wheels, a sloping back and a boat tail design, complemented by strong and modern body lines, to create a dynamic style that breaks away from the mainstream electric car design inertia.

The Jaguar Type 00 Concept features two intense colors, “Miami Pink” and “London Blue”, with “Miami Pink” showing the unique rose tone of satin brass, inspired by the oxidation of brass over time. Miami Pink” presents a unique rose tone of satin brass, inspired by the rose color formed by the oxidation of brass over time, and Miami's iconic pink Art Deco architecture; while ‘London Blue’ is a silver-gray blue tone, the color selection was inspired by the classic 1960s creamy sheen silver-gray blue, to highlight Jaguar's pure British lineage. The use of such a bold base color conveys Jaguar's brand essence of “surging modernism” to the outside world.

The debut of the Jaguar Type 00 Concept can be seen as a milestone in the transformation of the Jaguar brand. Through the Jaguar Type 00 Concept, users can see Jaguar's determination to transform and energize the electrification market, just like the 1961 E-Type.

Alongside the unveiling of the Jaguar Type 00 Concept, Jaguar has once again mentioned the product progress of its first production car, the pure-electric GT. Jaguar says it is continuing on its transformation path and the first new Jaguar production car will be a four-door GT pure-electric model to be unveiled in 2025 and built on British soil.

The new model will utilize the dedicated Jaguar JEA electric architecture and will have a target range of up to 770 kilometers (478 miles by WLTP standards) as well as 430 miles (692 kilometers by EPA standards), and will be able to add 321 kilometers (200 miles) to its range in just 15 minutes.

In addition, Jaguar's next-generation camouflaged prototype is already being tested on the road, and the all-electric GT is scheduled to go on sale in the second half of next year, with first deliveries beginning in 2026.

This year, Jaguar has suddenly accelerated its electrification transition moves, from the reveal of the Pure GT preparations, to the launch of a new logo to the debut of a new concept car, the Jaguar Type 00, Jaguar is betting all of its resources and time on the electrification business.

Some marvel at Jaguar's boldness, while others praise Jaguar's creativity. While every company that strives to lead change is always accompanied by criticism and skepticism, Jaguar has always responded to the controversy by breaking stereotypes with its iconic models and pushing the boundaries of automotive design and performance!
